And you.

Wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it.

Excuse my return of "Happy St George's Day" in a whisper. Islamic Huddersfield frowns upon the old celebrations and this is one which it has condemned and suppressed.

Thanks for the linkage, where I was on Monday in London, I didn't feel it was even appropriate to wear my St George Cross lapel pin

Maybe we should be a little careful about displays of the flag. That arch-nationalist Kipling imbued it with almost mystical reverence and wrote chapter in Stalky and Co where a crass politician wrapping himself in the Union Jack caused grave offence merely by unfurling it.

In the chapter Kipling is unusually dismissive of the old drill man who, being of the lower ranks, is taken in by the flag-waving and appeal to sentiment, preferring the outrage of the young patrician who needs no lectures in what the flag means.

I had a great day as l had my 2 daughters for company. My youngest has been away working in the States for over 18 months so St Georges Day was extra special.

lncidentally, could you pop over to our spot and give us your input on our latest post? :)
